“Penny Frosted is made in very small batches by people that have passion for root beer, said Marsh,”Everyone loves Penny Frosted and we’ve kept the brand small so we can keep quality as our main goal.” Penny Cola Company
Brand: Penny Frosted Root Beer.

Origin: Los Angeles, CA.

Purchase Place: Blue Sun Soda, Spring Lake Park, MN.

Sweetener: Sugar.

Review: This was a bit odd from the first sip. There’s a strange weakness/smokiness to this. Once I got past that flavor, it was good, but I’m still not sure what to think of this. I’ll give it an average score.

Score: 5 out of 10.   (Steve’s Root Beer Journal)

Ingredients: Carbonated water, sugar, caramel color, critic acid, sodium benzoate, and natural flavors.

The Calories are 150, which is below the average amount of calories for a bottle of root beer. Stewart’s has about the least for a well known root beer at 110, compared to Bulldog Root Beer at 160 and Hanks, which is the best made, has 180.

I think it has a taste like cinnamon, ginger, and cola, along with carmel.

Pure sugar, to me, gives a root beer a sort of dusty taste, like the class sat out in the kitchen and gathered dust. Penny Frosted has that taste to me.

“The idea of Penny Cola, (and Penny Frosted Root Beer) developed out of the lifelong dream of Ryan Marsh to create an amazing line of craft beverages. “I sought out to create a crisp, refreshing root beer,” said Marsh, “made to be reminiscent of an old fashioned hand-made soda. One that everyone could enjoy and make memories with.”  (Penny Cola Company)

California is really stepping up with its root beer production. Some of the most popular root beers of California history are: A&W, Mug, Virgils, DNA Root Beer, So Dah and Bulldog. There are a couple of breweries that make root beer, one in Visalia and another one in Morgan Hill, that Ive visited.  Brewbakers in Huntington, which makes Surf City Root Beer is considered one of the best made in the United States. My wife and I used this root beer for our wedding in 2015.

Penny Frosted Kick It Root Beer is a refreshing root beer.

Drink Up!
